Now that Her First Time: Volume 2 is finally out, I’ve found myself reflecting again on why the “first time” dynamic still fascinates me so much as a writer.
After more than twenty-five books — and many shorter stories besides — I still keep returning to that unique emotional space where temptation, desire, hesitation, restraint and consequence all collide at once. There’s something endlessly fascinating to me about couples standing at the edge of fantasy and deciding whether or not to take that step together.
And despite the erotic nature of these stories, what continues to interest me most is often the emotional side of it: the tension, the uncertainty, the vulnerability, the aftermath — and how those experiences can either challenge a relationship or ultimately deepen intimacy and trust when approached honestly.
When I started writing Her First Time: Volume 2, I originally intended it to be roughly the same size as the first collection. Instead, it gradually became much larger and more immersive than I expected.
Part of that happened because several stories simply took unexpected turns while I was writing them. But another reason was that I found myself leaning more into longer, emotionally immersive encounters — not only in the more scene-driven stories in Part II, but even within some of the confessional letters in Part I.
Longer stories simply provide more room for build-up, emotional progression, sensuality, realism, and aftermath. And while these stories are ultimately fantasy and fiction, I always try to keep the emotional reactions and relationship dynamics feeling as believable and grounded as possible.
So while Volume 2 still follows the same overall structure — confessional letters in Part I and more immediate, scene-driven stories in Part II — I think the new collection goes deeper into both the emotional and erotic sides of those experiences.
I also experimented with a different cover direction this time, which some readers may already have noticed.
